:: Strategic Planning- Global Perspectives ::

Our graduates will be called upon to work with colleagues belonging to unfamiliar cultures and living and working in countries across the globe.  It is important for them to graduate from Cal Poly with a sufficient understanding of cultural differences to enable effective professional and social interaction.  The Working Group on Global Perspectives should consider ways that Cal Poly can help students gain a global perspective.  The results of the Working Group’s deliberations should be a few concrete recommendations that are consistent with our curriculum and our resources.

It is important that the Working Group conduct its deliberations in light of cross-cutting issues important to our university.  They are diversity, sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, faculty workload, student success/retention/graduation, quality of life, and community citizenship.

The individuals appointed to this Working Group are:

  • Gregg Fiegel (Chair), Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Brian Kennelly, Modern Languages and Literatures
  • John Battenburg, International Education and Programs
  • Dan Villegas, Economics
  • Peggy Papathakis, Food Science and Nutrition
